Hey Gracie! I'm getting a lot of Emily Carroll influences from these illustrations. Often when someone says "graphic novel" I picture comic panels and grids-but it's also important to see that a graphic novel doesn't have to be held to those traditional restrictions. Emily Carroll breaks those rules very well, and it looks like you're able to do that too. Love seeing you explore this story visually.
Oh wow, thank you so much, Brandon! That's about the best compliment I could get!! I love E.M. Carroll's work, and it's definitely been a big inspiration to me thinking about what kind of graphic novel storytelling I want to use! I love how they're able to really viscerally communicate the feeling of something, even if the panel arrangement doesn't fit the usual mold, and that's what I want to do, too--communicate how something *feels* more than a blow by blow chronology of what's happening. Thanks!
